The Art's Story

From humble beginnings in 1982 as a tiny, one-person shop in the sleepy coastal town of Los Osos, California, Art's Cyclery has grown into a global cycling resource. Now located in San Luis Obispo, just 15 minutes down the road from the original storefront, it continues to serve the community of cyclists on the Central Coast. Over the years, Art's came to be known as SLO's premier bike shop, voted "Best Bike Shop" in both 2021 and 2022 by the New Times. It's made a name for itself as a centralized hub for the local cycling community, hosting regular rides and events for mountain bikers, roadies, and everyone in between.

Here at Art's, we're proud to call the Central Coast home. We are lucky enough to live in a cycling mecca, surrounded by endless roads and a unique network of trails—ranging from smooth and flowy to chunky, loose, and  technical—where we gain first-hand experience with the products we stock.
