It's hard to find flaws in a Zipp wheel. Now with Zipp's new 88 and 188 hubs it's nearly impossible. The larger axle makes the entire wheel stiffer, the goofy carbon bearing caps have been replaced with preload-adjustable aluminum caps (that don't make any noise) and the proprietary SHIFTô (Spoke Hole Impact Forming Technology) hub increases flange strength to allow for much higher spoke tension, again stiffening the wheel. The rim has been redesigned to shed another 8-25 grams of resistance over the previous 808 model. So what's not to like? Fabian Cancellara says the 808s are the new 404s, Zipp claims these are the fastest road wheels on the market, and we say they're super awesome. Grab a set of 808s and find out how much faster you could be.
