Aside from the crankset and shifters, the new chain is the most redesigned piece of the 7900 Dura Ace line-up. It's twenty grams lighter, thanks to hollow- pin construction and cut-outs on the chain plates. The asymmetric design of the chains inward and outward-facing plates enables it to resist twist on the chainrings and mesh seamlessly with the cogs on the rear cassette for silent operation and seamless shifting. Running the chain with the writing to the outside maximizes the chains performance. Installation and removal of the Dura Ace 7900 chain requires a chain tool and a specific 7900 connecting pin.
