Not all valve extenders are created equal. Most valve extenders are designed to be left on the bike. This creates problems because it requires you to leave the presta valve open on the tube. Mavic Alloy Valve Extensions are designed to be installed only to help you inflate your tires and tubes, then they are removed. The inside edge of the Mavic Extension is knurled to grab the presta valve and the outside is knurled so your fingers can provide torque. Each extension includes 5 o-rings to make sure no pressure is lost in the inflation process, and by closing your presta valve at the tube and removing the extension, Mavic eliminates the most likely cause of deflation with deep dish wheels, the valve extender to valve junction.
