Fox's new 34 line of forks creates a stiffer and more sure handling fork without the weight penalty of the 36. The Fox 34 Talas 160 CTD Fit Fork is more plush thanks to SKF seals and a slick Kashima coating. The Talas model features Fox's world renowned Travel Adjustable Linear Air Spring, giving you the same preload at 120mm or 160mm of travel. The new 34 chassis was designed to be stiffer than the 32. Better tracking, braking, and cornering are the result of the larger stanchions. However, a new revised compression damper helps you soak every last bit of performance out of the 34 Talas. It's called CTD.
CTD is an acronym for Climb-Trail-Descend. It does away with the old factory pre-set high speed compression and adjustable low speed compression knob of the RLC models and replaces it with 5 factory pre-set compression settings: a Climb setting, 3 Trail settings, and a Descend setting. By doing this, Fox is able to adjust both low-speed and high speed compression for 5 different trail conditions and riding styles. This is the big difference between the RLC and the CTD forks. Though you could adjust the low-speed compression on the RLC, the high speed was factory set. In the CTD fork, each position has different low-speed and high-speed compression settings and with 5 to choose from, every trail condition is accounted for.
The 34 Talas 160 comes with 160mm of travel and can adjust down to 120mm giving you the ability to climb steep pitches without the front end rising too much. A 15mm QR thru-axle provides a stiff juncture between fork and wheel. Designed to make riding fun again, the Fox 34 Talas 160 CTD Fit Fork allows you to worry less about proper fork setup so you can spend more time enjoying the ride.
