Michelin is one of the oldest and most recognized tire manufacturers in the world. The company, founded by Édouard and André Michelin, began making tires when a cyclist came by the factory and needed his pneumatic tire repaired. The tire at this time had to be glued to the rim. Edouard was so frustrated with the process that he and his brother began their development of what is now called the "clincher" tire. Soon after, the company was incorporated and took out it's first patent for a removable pneumatic tire in 1891. Since that time, Michelin has been at the forefront of not only bicycle tire technology, but also every tire market and is now ranked first in the global tire market. Michelin tires are currently ridden by French Cycling Team AG2R La Mondial.
