The Garmin Sharp Barracuda riders requested Castelli design a lightweight Bib Short for the hottest mountain stages of the Grand Tours and Castelli delivered with the Inferno Bib. Seven different fabrics come together to create a short that is as cool and comfortable as possible.
The fabric on the front of the shorts is open and airy, but Castelli incorporated titanium dioxide, the active ingredient in sunscreen, directly into the fabric to reflect the sun's rays. Abrasion resistant nylon on the inside of the leg provides durability to these exceptionally light shorts.
The chamois is one of the most technologically advanced pads ever made. A "skin care layer" uses a soft, stretchy, seamless, bacteriostatic material that has the task of preventing any sort of chafing. It's made to adapt to the shape of your body without any folds and is probably the softest thing to touch your private parts since you got out of diapers. The "cushioning layer" puts the right padding in the right places with the maximum thickness under the ischial bones where you sit. Perforated viscous comfort padding keeps the chamois breathable.
